Understanding and complying with Moroccan labor laws is essential for global organizations operating in the country. At Breedj, we ensure that your business remains compliant with these statutory regulations, as outlined below:
Employee Probation Period: The Moroccan Labor Code prescribes maximum probationary periods based on employee categories: 15 days for manual workers, six weeks for employees, and three months for managerial staff. The probationary period can only be renewed once for the same length of time.
Annual Leave in Morocco: After six months of continuous service with the same employer, employees are entitled to 1.5 days of paid leave for each month of service. Generally, employees are entitled to 24 days of paid annual leave after one year of service. Those under 18 years receive two days of leave per month of service. After five years of service, annual leave increases by 1.5 days per year, up to a maximum of 30 days.
Maternity Leave in Morocco: Moroccan law grants women 14 weeks of maternity leave at 100% of their wages, payable from a national social security fund. Additionally, a pregnant woman can opt for an extra year of unpaid leave if desired.
Paternity Leave in Morocco: Fathers are entitled to 3 days of paternity leave at full pay.
Sick Leave in Morocco: Employees with 54 days of contributions in the prior six months of coverage are eligible for sick leave. Sick pay, typically around two-thirds of the average daily wage, commences on the fourth day of illness.
By partnering with Breedj, your organization can rest assured that all aspects of Moroccan labor laws are expertly managed, allowing you to concentrate on your business’s growth and success.

Navigating Morocco’s social security system is a crucial aspect of maintaining compliance and providing appropriate benefits to your employees. At Breedj, we ensure that your organization adheres to the country’s social security requirements, which include the following:
Social Security Contributions: Employers are responsible for withholding social security contributions based on employees’ gross compensation, including fringe benefits and bonuses. These contributions are paid monthly, with employers remitting both their own contributions and those withheld from employees.
Mandatory Social Security Regime: The Caisse Nationale de Sécurité Sociale (CNSS) fund manages Morocco’s only mandatory social security regime. All employees must contribute to this fund. Although private social security organizations exist in Morocco, they are not mandatory.
Benefits Covered by the CNSS: The CNSS provides a range of benefits to employees, including healthcare, retirement pensions, disability benefits, and family allowances. It is essential to ensure that your employees receive these benefits in accordance with Moroccan law.
By choosing Breedj as your Morocco Employer of Record, you can be confident that your organization remains fully compliant with the country’s social security regulations. Our expertise allows you to focus on your core business activities while we manage the complexities of the Moroccan social security system on your behalf.
