Why hire talents from Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe boasts a highly literate population, with a literacy rate of 86% according to the UNESCO Institute for Statistics. This high literacy rate means that international organizations looking to hire in Zimbabwe can tap into a large pool of skilled and educated professionals who possess the knowledge and expertise needed to excel in a variety of roles and industries.

In addition to a high literacy rate, Zimbabwe also has a growing economy and a workforce that is proficient in English, which is the country’s official language. These factors, combined with a relatively low cost of living and a well-established infrastructure, make Zimbabwe an attractive destination for global organizations looking to expand their operations or tap into new markets.

At Breedj, we understand the importance of finding the right talent to drive organizational success, and we know that sourcing and hiring top talent in Zimbabwe can be a complex and challenging process. That’s why our Zimbabwe RPO services are designed to help our clients navigate the local recruitment landscape and tap into the country’s vast pool of skilled professionals. By leveraging our local expertise and knowledge of the market, we can help global organizations find and hire the right candidates for their needs.

Employment termination in Zimbabwe

Terminating an employment contract in Zimbabwe can be a complex and challenging process for global organizations. At Breedj, we understand the importance of a smooth and compliant termination process, and we have extensive knowledge and expertise in this area. Here are some key policies and procedures for employment termination in Zimbabwe that global organizations should be aware of:

General termination of employment policies in Zimbabwe: According to the Code of Conduct, a contract of employment can be terminated if the employer and employee mutually agree to it in writing. This is also the case if an employee is engaged in a fixed-term contract or for the performance of a specific task, and the contract has expired after the mandated period or the task is completed. Employers can terminate contracts on the following grounds:

  • If an employee is guilty of theft or fraud
  • If an employee willfully destroys employer’s property
  • If an employee is absent for a period of five days or more working days without giving a reasonable excuse
  • If an employee lacks a skill that he or she implicitly said they were capable of
  • If an employee is substantially negligent in his or her duties
  • If an employee is drunk to the extent that it makes him/her fail to perform their duties.

Notice period in Zimbabwe: The notice of termination of the contract of employment to be given by either party shall be:

  • Three months in the case of a contract without a limit of time or a contract for a period of two years or more
  • Two months in the case of a contract for a period of one year or more but less than two years
  • One month in the case of a contract for a period of six months or more but less than one year
  • Two weeks in the case of a contract for a period of three months or more but less than six months
  • One day in the case of a contract for a period of less than three months or in the case of casual work or seasonal work.

Severance pay in Zimbabwe: According to the Labor Act, severance pay is available only for collective dismissals for economic reasons, i.e., retrenchment. Although the Retrenchment Board fixes the severance pay differently depending on the ability of the organization to pay, the most usual is three months’ pay for one year of service.

At Breedj, we are committed to helping our clients navigate the complex and ever-changing labor landscape in Zimbabwe. Our RPO services in Zimbabwe include compliance management and risk mitigation to ensure that our clients meet all legal and regulatory requirements when it comes to employment termination. We work closely with our clients to develop and implement best practices in notice periods, severance pay, and other key areas of the termination process.

By partnering with Breedj for RPO services in Zimbabwe, global organizations can rest assured that their employment termination practices are compliant, efficient, and respectful of local labor laws and regulations.
