Why hire talents from Togo

Togo has a literacy rate of 63.7%, according to the UNESCO Institute for Statistics. This means that a significant portion of the population has received basic education and is capable of reading and writing, which bodes well for the quality of the local workforce. In recent years, Togo has also made significant strides in improving its business climate and attracting foreign investment, leading to a growing pool of talented professionals across a range of industries.

Hiring talent from Togo can offer several advantages for global organizations. Local professionals often possess unique skills and perspectives that can help companies expand their global reach and achieve their business objectives.

Additionally, hiring from Togo can be a cost-effective way to access high-quality talent, as salaries and other labor costs are typically lower than in more developed countries. Finally, by investing in local talent, companies can build stronger ties to the Togolese community and contribute to the country’s ongoing economic development.

Sourcing talents from Togo

For global companies looking to source top talent in Togo, traditional recruitment channels such as job boards, social media, and recruitment agencies can be effective tools. However, navigating the local labor market can be challenging due to cultural and linguistic differences, as well as complex labor laws and regulations.

At Breedj, we offer a comprehensive suite of Togo recruitment process outsourcing services to help our clients overcome these challenges and find the best local talent. Our services include sourcing and identifying qualified candidates, screening and assessing applicants, and managing the entire recruitment process from start to finish. We also provide support in areas such as visa and work permit applications, onboarding, and compliance with local labor laws and regulations.

Employment laws and regulations in Togo

Navigating the complex employment laws and regulations in Togo can be challenging for global organizations looking to hire local talent. At Breedj, we understand the importance of compliance with local labor laws and regulations, and we work closely with our clients to ensure that they meet all legal requirements when hiring in Togo.

Employment contracts are governed by Togolese labor law and must comply with local regulations. It is recommended to draft contracts in French, the official language of Togo, and to include specific terms related to compensation, benefits, and termination. The probationary period varies based on the job level, ranging from one month (renewable once) for workers, employees, and others, to six months (non-renewable) for managers and others.

Normal working hours in Togo are 40 hours per week, and overtime pay is required for any work exceeding this limit. The Interprofessional Collective Agreement mandates that employers pay overtime rates of 20% of the hourly wage for the first eight hours worked beyond 40 hours during the day, and 40% of the hourly wage for overtime beyond 48 hours. Additionally, workers who work on Sundays and holidays are entitled to overtime pay at a rate of 65% of normal pay.

Employment termination in Togo

Terminating an employment contract in Togo requires adherence to specific policies and procedures governed by local labor laws. At Breedj, we understand the importance of compliance with these regulations, and we work closely with our clients to ensure that all employment terminations are conducted legally and ethically.

Fixed-term contracts in Togo terminate upon the expiry of their term or upon termination by one of the parties. In cases of force majeure, agreement of the parties (provided it is recorded in writing), or heavy mistake, the fixed-term contract can be broken. Indefinite-term contracts may be terminated by the will of one of the parties, provided that the party initiating the termination gives notice.

The Collective Agreement specifies the minimum duration of the notice period, with one month for workers, employees, and the like, three months for supervisors, managers, and others, and five days for paid workers per hour. Employers are required to provide severance pay to employees with at least one year of continuous service in cases of dismissal on economic grounds. The amount of severance pay varies based on the years of continuous service, with a lump sum of 35% of the employee’s average annual salary during the employment period for one to five years, a lump sum of 40% for six to nine years, and a lump sum of 45% for ten or more years.

At Breedj, we understand that employment termination can be a difficult and sensitive process. That’s why we offer comprehensive support and guidance to our clients to ensure that all employment terminations are conducted in a legally compliant and ethical manner. By partnering with us for Togo RPO services, our clients can rest assured that they are in compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations, and that they are treating their employees fairly and ethically.
