When it comes to sourcing top talent, Ghana is an excellent choice for global organizations seeking skilled professionals with a strong work ethic and dedication to their craft. According to the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, Ghana has a literacy rate of 76.6%, which is significantly higher than the regional average for sub-Saharan Africa.
This high literacy rate is indicative of the strong educational system in Ghana, which includes numerous universities and technical schools. As a result, Ghanaian professionals are well-equipped to succeed in a variety of roles and industries.
Moreover, Ghana has a diverse and multicultural population, which is reflected in its vibrant business landscape. This diversity is particularly evident in the capital city of Accra, which has a thriving business community that includes startups, SMEs, and multinational corporations.
By hiring talent from Ghana, global organizations can tap into this diverse talent pool and benefit from the local knowledge and cultural insights of Ghanaian professionals. Additionally, hiring locally can provide cost savings compared to hiring expats or flying in talent from abroad.
Ghana offers an exceptional pool of talent for global organizations seeking to expand their operations in Africa. At Breedj, we have the local knowledge and expertise necessary to help you source and hire the right talent for your organization’s specific needs.
When it comes to sourcing top talent in Ghana, there are a variety of options available to global organizations. Employment laws and regulations in Ghana can be complex, and it’s important for global organizations to be aware of them when hiring in the country. At Breedj, we understand the importance of compliance with local labor laws, which is why we ensure that our RPO services in Ghana are in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
In Ghana, employment contracts are essential for outlining the terms and conditions of employment, including compensation, benefits, and termination policies. It’s important to draft employment contracts that are clear and concise, and that follow best practices. For example, the employment contract should specify the length of the probation period, which is not outlined in the law but should be reasonable.
In general, Ghanaians work an 8-hour day, 5 days per week. However, it’s important to note that overtime work may be required in certain circumstances. If overtime work is required, it must be compensated at a rate of 150% of the normal hourly wage rate.
When it comes to termination of employment, the law in Ghana allows for termination by either party at any time. However, the notice period required for termination varies depending on the length of the contract. For example, a worker on a contract of less than three years is entitled to two weeks’ notice or two weeks’ pay in lieu of notice. Additionally, termination may be deemed unfair under certain circumstances, such as discrimination or failure to take action on repeated complaints of sexual harassment.
It’s essential for global organizations to be aware of Ghana’s employment laws and regulations when hiring in the country. At Breedj, we guarantee compliance with local labor laws and regulations when sourcing and hiring local talent, ensuring that our clients are fully compliant and protected.

Termination of employment policies in Ghana are governed by the Labour Act 2003 (Act 651), and it’s important for global organizations to be aware of these policies when hiring in the country. At Breedj, we have a deep understanding of these policies and ensure that our RPO services in Ghana are fully compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.
Under Act 651, a contract of employment may be terminated by either party at any time. However, the notice period required for termination varies depending on the length of the contract. For example, a worker on a contract of less than three years is entitled to two weeks’ notice or two weeks’ pay in lieu of notice. Workers with longer contracts are entitled to one month’s notice.
In the event that the contract of employment is determinable at will by either party, it may be terminated at the close of any day without notice. However, termination may be deemed unfair under certain circumstances, such as discrimination or failure to take action on repeated complaints of sexual harassment.
Where the contract of employment is for three years or more, it may be terminated upon a month’s notice or a month’s pay in lieu of notice. In the case of contracts from week to week, seven days’ notice is required to be given to the employee.
Under the law, termination may be deemed unfair where it is only by reason of the fact that the worker intends to join a trade union or has ceased to join a trade union, among other circumstances.
When it comes to severance pay, where an employment is closed down or undergoes an amalgamation and that arrangement is likely to sever relationships between a worker and an employer immediately before the close down, that worker is entitled to be paid compensation, which is known as the redundancy pay. The amount of compensation or redundancy pay is subject to negotiation between the employer and the worker on the one hand, and the trade union or the worker on the other hand.
At Breedj, we understand the complexities of employment termination policies in Ghana, and we ensure that our RPO services are fully compliant with all applicable laws and regulations. By partnering with us, our clients can rest assured that they are fully protected and compliant when hiring local talent in Ghana.
