According to the World Bank’s latest index, Cameroon ranks 166 out of 190 countries in terms of ease of doing business. This ranking implies that international organizations seeking to do business in Cameroon may face several challenges related to starting and running a business in the country. These challenges may include difficulties in obtaining permits and licenses, challenges in registering property, and limited access to credit. In addition, the country’s legal and regulatory framework may present challenges to companies looking to hire employees or set up an entity in Cameroon.
Cameroon presents a wealth of opportunities for international businesses, including a large and diverse market, a strategic location, and a favorable business climate in certain sectors. To navigate the complexities of doing business in Cameroon, many international companies turn to Employer of Record (EOR) services such as those offered by Breedj.
By partnering with Breedj, global organizations can leverage our local expertise and experience to ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations while minimizing the risks associated with expanding their operations, thanks to our employer of record solutions in Cameroon.
When it comes to hiring in Cameroon, international companies have two main options: setting up their entity or using a Cameroon Employer of Record (EOR) service such as Breedj. Setting up a legal entity can be time-consuming, expensive, and complex, particularly for companies with limited knowledge of local regulations and procedures. It may also expose the company to legal and financial risks associated with non-compliance with local labor laws and regulations.
Using a Cameroon EOR service, on the other hand, can provide companies with a flexible and cost-effective solution for hiring employees in the country. EOR services such as those offered by Breedj enable companies to hire and manage employees without the need to set up a legal entity in the country. This allows companies to save time and money while ensuring compliance with local labor laws and regulations.
At Breedj, we provide end-to-end EOR solutions that cover every aspect of the employment relationship, from recruitment and onboarding to payroll management and tax compliance. Our team of experts has in-depth knowledge of local regulations and can provide our clients with the guidance and support they need to navigate the complexities of hiring in Cameroon.

Social security is an important aspect of the employment relationship in Cameroon. For their joint personal welfare, employees are obligated to contribute to the National Social Insurance Fund (NSIF) at a particular rate calculated on the basis of their salaries. This contribution is withheld at source by the employer. The employee contributes only for the portion covering the old age pension, permanent and total disability pension, and survival pension.
The rate is 4.2% based on the taxable salary, which shall be capped at XAF 750,000 per month (i.e. XAF 9 million per year). The rate for voluntary insurance for this contribution is 8.4%.
At Breedj, we ensure that our clients comply with all social security requirements in Cameroon. We manage the employee’s social security contributions and ensure that they are paid in full and on time. We also ensure that our clients are fully compliant with all social security regulations, minimizing their legal and financial risks.
